Hackmanite is a very rare and strange stone that was first discovered in the early 19th century and named after the Finnish geologist Victor Hackman. Unlike other color-changing stones such as Alexandrite, the color does not change immediately, but takes some time. When you expose a Hackmanite to sunlight, it changes color. This color then remains in the stone until you keep it in a dark room for 20 min - a couple of hours (varies from stone to stone). The stone then regains its original colour. This color change happens every time you perform the same process and you can do this as many times as you like. There is extremely little raw material of this stone so even small stones have a very high value.
