For many centuries it was believed that Jade was a single gemstone, but in 1863 it was discovered that Jade actually consists of two types of stones – Jadeite and Nephrite. Nefirt is the more common variety, but Jadeite comes in a wider color spectrum with colors such as green, purple, white, pink, brown, red, blue, black, yellow and orange. The largest Jade deposits are still found in Burma (Maynmar), but Jade is also found in China, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South America, among others.
