Kunzite was first discovered in California in 1902, and was named after Tiffany's chief gemologist, G. F. Kunz. Kunzite is a stone that is both Phosphorescence and Pleochroism. A stone that is Phosphorescence really glows after you have the stone out in sunlight. This can best be seen when looking at the stone in the evening light after a day out in the sun. In a stone that is Pleochroism, you can see two different color shades depending on the angle at which you look at the stone.
