Morganite or, Pink Beryl as it was first called, was discovered in 1911 in Madagascar. The name was then changed by the famous head gemologist at Tiffany (a very rich jewel company in the USA), G.F. Kunz to Morganite. He named the stone Morganite as a tribute to his main investor and gem enthusiast John Pierport Morgan (a famous American banker/investor).
